EXHIBITION OVERVIEW

Twenty Year Illusion of Normal is a virtual exhibition of artwork by Adelaide Artist Tracey Malliaros

A selection of artworks from the past twenty years representing the artist's personal exploration of the reality of 'normal' in today's society. Using a variety of media, in a progression of images from traditional to abstract, Tracey brings you along on the journey, reflecting on what is 'normal'? Why is society more comfortable when you fit into ‘the norm' and if that doesn't work for you, then what...?
Tracey is an Adelaide visual artist currently working in soft pastel, acrylic and oil with explorations in other media and mixed media. Primarily self-taught, her work is expressive, personifying her thoughts, emotions, perceptions and experiences through pattern, form and colour.

Artworks available for purchase through Goldfire Gallery unless stated otherwise.

'THE BLUE BOTTLE'
GRISAILLE & GLAZING TECHNIQUE

FROM INITIAL DRAWING TO FINISHED ARTWORK

Traditionally Grisaille is a painting done entirely in shades of a neutral colour.

In French, grisaille has also come to mean any painting technique in which translucent oil colours are laid over a monotone underpainting (glazing).

Glazes are used one on top of another in multiple layers to build up depth and modify colors in the painting.

When glazing, each layer must be allowed to dry properly before doing the next to ensure layering rather than mixing of colour.

The result is an image with beautiful depth of colour.
